How much experience do I need to do the program?
Not a lot. We get a really diverse group of people coming through the program. Some have played for a long time, but many have not played for many years, and some have successfully completed the program knowing only 2 or 3 chords. When putting the bands together the coaches will take into account everyone’s abilities so that everyone gets the most out of the program. If you’re keen to do the program, we’ll find a way for you to do it, no matter how good or basic your skills are.
What gear do I need to bring to the initial jam?
You don’t actually have to bring anything. Guitarists and bass players are welcome to bring their own guitar or bass, but there will also be plenty on hand. We also provide quality PA, drum kit, keyboards, amps, etc.
Do I need to pay to come to the jam?
Not at all. There is no charge for the jam and this is your opportunity to decide if you want to go ahead with the program. If you decide you do want to go ahead, we ask that you pay your fee before the first rehearsal.
What nights are rehearsals on?
At the jam the coach will let you know what nights he is available for rehearsals and you can let our staff know which nights and times suit you. This will be taken into account in making up the bands – your preferences will be taken into account as much as possible.
Who decides what songs the bands practise?
The coaches and each band work together to come up with a set list for the Big Gig and as much as possible each band member’s music tastes are taken into account.
How much does the program cost?
$300. For this amount, we provide all the gear, the coaches, the rehearsal venue, and put all the Big Gig arrangements in place.
Is there an age restriction?
The Weekend Warrior program is generally for people from about the ages of 35 upwards, but we make exceptions for younger people that are really keen... come along to the jam and have a chat to the coach if this sounds like you!
