Guitar + Bass Lessons
Brendan Gloag - Guitar Lessons

Brendan started playing piano from age 6 and guitar and bass when he was 14.

After finishing school he embarked on a career as a professional guitarist, playing in a variety of Sydney bands. During this time he also pursued a career as a recording and live sound engineer, working in live venues all over Sydney and producing over 10 CDs in a variety of genres. He also presented and produced a weekly show for Fbi radio.

Brendan has been teaching guitar and bass for over 10 years and taught audio engineering at TAFE. He has a Bachelors Degree in Arts, a Diploma in Music (technical production) and a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.

Paul Meader - Guitar Lessons

Paul started classical guitar at 12 years old. By the time he was 14, he was teaching guitar locally and playing in rock bands. At 15 he won a scholarship to study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Paul continued his musical studies in electric guitar and electric bass, working for several years in the Sydney rock scene and two years in London. Back in Sydney, Paul studied double bass in the Jazz Diploma course at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He then returned to the UK to play double bass with many big names in the London Jazz scene. After relocating to Amsterdam, Paul toured and recorded with a successful jazz band. He has toured throughout Europe, Scandinavia, USA, Canada and Japan and performed at some of the biggest Jazz festivals in the world including the Montreal Jazz Festival, The Vancouver Jazz Festival, The St Louis Jazz Festival and The North Sea Jazz Festival.

Paul has written many books on the guitar. In 2004 Paul set up a ‘School Of Rock’ in Amsterdam, teaching young people from the ages of 7 to 18 how to play in, and be a part of a rock/pop/blues band. Since 2008 Paul has taught guitar, electric and double bass, keyboards and vocals, in many styles including rock, blues, pop, classical, Latin, Cuban, jazz and gypsy jazz.

Steve Rackowski - Guitar Lessons

Steve has been a guitar tutor for the past 23 years.

With experience at Rock Music Bankstown, St. Patrick’s College, Burwood Music School, Domremy College, Dickson’s Music and Chatswood Newington College, Steve knows how to engage the student in productive and fun learning.

Steve has had a lot live performance experience, and currently plays around town with many acts, particularly Sydney rock band The Blazing Suns.

Dave Kirby - Drum Lessons Dave Kirby - Drum Lessons

Dave’s been drumming since he was 16 –at first just playing along to the Blues Brothers soundtrack and Van Halen in his grandma’s basement, then trying to emulate heroes like John Bonham and Ringo Starr. Today, Dave cites Dave Grohl, Keith Moon, Mitch Mitchell, Steve Jordan, Jojo Mayer and Stanton Moore as his inspirations and influences.

Dave has played in bands around Sydney, including an 11-year stint with a corporate covers show where he honed his skills playing various genres, including pop, disco, Latin and swing.

Currently, Dave freelances around Sydney with acts such as One Hit Wonders, Covergirl, the Dave White Experience, and original acts such as 30three. His current main gig is with Australian Idol 2008 Runner up Luke Dickens, with whom he has toured the Middle East entertaining the troops. Dave also performs at tributes to artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Crowded House, The Everly Brothers and the Woodstock Concert.

He also spends a bit of time in the studio and has recorded albums and EPs with The Mules, Yolanda & the Stolen Boys, Reflector and Jarrod Murphy (ex Pelican Jed). In addition to performing, Dave also teaches drumming at Marist Brothers Pagewood and St Scholastica’s College in Glebe.


Phil Lombardo- Drum Lessons Phil Lombardo - Drum Lessons

As a drummer since 1995, Phil Lombardo has gained experience in many forms of music, playing in countless function bands, working as a musician in stage shows, laying down drum tracks for original band recording sessions, and working in cabaret musicals.

In August 2005 Phil completed The Complete Drummer Degree at the Conservatorium of Music, Sydney and soon after he took on full time studies at the University of NSW, in the Bachelor of Music Education double degree program.

Along with the drum kit, Phil has also trained as a pianist and been heavily involved in music technology, sound mixing and songwriting. Phil currently focuses on drum kit tuition and is proud to be a member of the Allans Billy Hyde Academy team.



Tubby Wadsworth - Drum Lessons Tubby Wadsworth - Drum Lessons

Tubby has many years of live performing and teaching experience under his belt and has conducted numerous clinics and workshops.

He was a three-times State Drum Champion winner as a teenager, and has recorded and performed with legendary Australian hardcore act Massappeal and appeared on national television. His latest projects have included recorded performances with Love Shark of Machine Gun Fellatio and Leeno Dee of INK/JERK.

Tubby’s infectious passion for the instrument will leave students heading straight for the practice pad, then hopefully onto their dream gig. Tubby provides much technical and philosophical information to further develop his students’ performing level, exploring techniques that are essential to kit development. Many of his previous students have gone on to secure positions in the Australian music scene.

Tubby’s Motto: If I’m not busy, I’m not happy!

Andrew Beaumont - Piano Lessons

Andrew has been playing piano for over twenty years.

He is familiar with the AMEB method, in which he achieved a Grade 8 level, and also the Suzuki method (Grade 6).
Over the years he has also sung, played trumpet and played violin. After a piano performance for his HSC exam
he went on to complete a Bachelor of Music at The Australian Institute of Music, majoring in audio technology.

Andrew was a teacher for Yamaha Music Education and has been teaching all age groups for six years. His focus is on jazz and classical piano and music theory.

Alice Cohen - Piano Lessons

Alice began piano studies at 9 years of age. In combining a love of contemporary classical and jazz/rock composition during High School, Alice gained entry into the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Bachelor of Music (Composition) program in 1981. She later moved to arranging and Jazz Studies in 1983. Alice completed a BA from La Trobe University Melbourne in 1987.

During the 1990s Jazz, Improvisation and Contemporary Classical ensemble compositions and performances were performed and broadcast at Music/Art Festivals and by the ABC in Sydney. In 1994, a MA(Composition) was completed at Sydney University under Peter Sculthorpe OBE. From 1997, a piano teaching practise established with Bay Music enabled teaching Mosman, Middle Harbour and North Sydney Demonstration Primary School students. A one year training course for teaching AMEB Preliminary to Grade 4 Piano Pedagogy was undertaken at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Paul Rickard-Ford in 1998.

As a foundation for “good rhythm” and musical concepts, Alice enjoys using Dalcroze Eurythmics to promote a fun and active learning experience for all ages. The individual student sets the speed of learning and skill development while enjoying making music at all levels.

Tim Grant - Saxophone Lessons Tim Grant - Saxophone Lessons

Tim has been playing saxophone for over 10 years and has experience performing in a wide range of genres from classical, jazz and funk to reggae, rock and pop.

He has 5 years experience in teaching saxophone to students of all ages, and is familiar with the AMEB syllabus as well as working with students to meet their individual goals.

Tim is passionate about both performing and teaching and is currently studying for a Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Teaching.

Linda Knight - Vocal Lessons

Since deciding at the age of 6 that entertaining was her passion, Linda Knight has been driven by her life-long affair with music and has established herself as a versatile and creative singer. Linda has worked continuously since joining her first band Crossroad a gospel/funk band in 1979.

Throughout the 80s, she performed as a solo cabaret artist around Sydney and on international cruises, as well as steadily working in corporate and private functions. She made guest appearances on television including local telethons, daytime and evening variety shows such as the Don Lane Show.

Concentrating on live performance, Linda continues to play venues around Australia and also supports local and international acts on tour. She has recorded her first Jazz CD And So it Goes which has been given air-time on jazz radio programmes around the country. Linda also enjoys a successful career teaching music, singing and stagecraft in Sydney.
